The social side of the club

Events

The Kate Kennedy Club hosts several large events throughout the year which university students are invited to attend. These events not only offer a great time to all in attendance but also see any profits donated to local Fife charities.

In addition to the Black Tie Balls mentioned below, the Club also hosts the Golf Day, Football Sixes Tournament and the historic Silver Arrow Contest (Scotland's oldest archery competition).

Opening the academic year

Opening Ball

Opening Ball is the first major black tie event of the year. As one of the oldest and most established events at St. Andrews, Opening Ball is a staple for freshers and returners alike. Set in the heart of St Andrews on The Madras Rugby Pitches, the event hosts over 1200 guests in a picturesque location. Guests are greeted by Highland Pipers and a Champagne Reception, followed by a night of dancing and entertainment. Live music and refreshment stands, alongside several bars, keep the guests partying long into the night.

closing out the year

May Ball

Having held the first event of the Academic Year in Opening Ball, the Kate Kennedy Club then similarly closes out the year with May Ball. Held locally at Kinkell Byre, with beautiful sunset views over St Andrews Bay, the Kate Kennedy Club Charity May Ball is the finest event of the St Andrews social calendar. The night begins with a VIP dinner looking out over the bay before the main event starts for which both VIP and Classic tickets are available. Live music is provided by international artists such as Lost Frequencies and Duke Dumont, while fairground rides and hospitality stands provide further entertainment. May Ball stands alone as the perfect end to the St Andrews year and is not to be missed!

Celebrating the procession

Procession Ball

Following the Annual Kate Kennedy Spring Procession, the Club hosts an intimate ball in the Hall of Champions at the Old Course Hotel. This event is for Club Members, Life Members and all those who helped out with the Procession.

A night of partying and live music is the perfect way to celebrate the completion of the most important event in the Club's calendar and allows the Club to thank all those who make our mission possible.
